Glitter Glam!

Hello Girls!

As you will notice from my previous posts, I just LOVE glittery eyeshadows! Just anything glittery for that matter - you should see my nails just now too! All about the glitter!

So for this next look I took the glitter level up a notch as I wanted to create a look which was extra special for occasions such as New Years! I will attach some photos below, but I can only apologise that they aren't the best pictures and didn't really do the make up much justice!

Apply your eye make as normal, however add some eye primer on the
areas where you would like to place the glitter.

This will help the glitter stick to your eyelid. Another tip to prevent
the glitter going all over my face (which happened to me)

 is to hold a
tissue under your eye as you apply the glitter,

this will catch any excess glitter which falls.

This look can be created using any glitter, stay tuned for
variations on this look soon!

IT'S ARRIVED!!!!!!!!

My girls,

It has finally arrived! I'm so overly excited that the new MAC store has finally opened in Aberdeen. It has been 'Coming Soon' for SO long, without actually arriving... UNTIL NOW!

Along with being devastated about having to leave my friends, family and boyfriend back home in Edinburgh, leaving my fav MAC concession in Harvey Nichols wasn't any easier, especially knowing there wasn't going to be a replacement for me in Aberdeen. One less thing
getting me down now.

Whenever i'm feeling down I will no longer have to eat my body weight in Ben & Jerrys (admit it, you have all done this! May even be doing it right now)
but instead can treat myself to the 'occasional'
MAC purchase. Lucky me, just wish i could say the same for my bank account.
Can't say I'm sorry though.

Enjoy it as much as I am going to my lovelies.

Birthday Girl

Hey my gorgeous girls,

Just a really quick post of the make up done on my close friend who asked me to do her make up for her birthday meal.
Always SO happy when people trust me with their faces for
special occasions.

This was the first time I have ever done make-up on a darker skinned model and I definitely found that shimmer eye shadows
work best on this skin colour and look amazing especially when
they catch the light. Using the Mac Pigment in the middle
of the eye, with darker colours on either side creates this 'Spotlight' look.

Hope you like it, still need alot of practice though.
Sorry for only managing to get one picture to show you!

Lippy, Camera....Action!!!

Hello again my lovelies!

I am so excited to give you a sneak-peak into the make-up I did as part of my university coursework. We had to hold a photoshoot which meant we had to find a photographer, model, make-up artist, clothes - the lot.

I was honoured when the group I was working with
asked me to do the hair & make-up!
First model I've ever done make-up on, was so unbelievably nervous
but I did it & was so happy with it.

 Hope you enjoy :)

I had to turn our model into a Bohemian Goddess, however, I was told to keep the colours as neutral as possible so I decided to stick to golds, bronzes and pale pinks. Added glitter on the cheeks to give that
Boho look.

As you can see I was hard at work - doing what I love - transforming the simple gold look
into a dramatic silver, show stopping
look for the finale of our shoot.

I added silvers and blacks to the look to create a more dramatic impact in the final pictures we were going to take which were all about the close up
shots so I had to make sure it looks perfect.
I was asked to use little diamonds underneath the eyes to create a tear
drop-like effect which looked fab in the
pictures.

I can't wait to see the final pictures our photographer took! He was honestly amazing and was
just as enthusiastic about getting the perfect
picture as we were and wouldn't stop until he felt it
      was exactly that: Perfect.

Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone involved:

The two Emily's who styled our model and made her look amazing.
Diana who was our beautiful model who was the perfect boho goddess
Gavin the photographer who made the picture exceed all expectations.

M.A.C Madness

Hey Girls,

Was so excited when my best friend suprised me with the most amazing
birthday present ever, a lesson at MAC make up store in Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh. I couldn't wait to learn all the tricks of the trade,
and secrets on how to make your make-up
look flawless like theirs always do.

Emma was my make-up artist, who is also a really good friend of mine, and she did an absolutely beautiful job of my make-up - I couldn't have been happier.
She chose a variety of purple shades for my eye make-up as she explained
it's a perfect colour for enhancing darker green eyes.
My favourite product from this look (which I just had to buy) has to be the M.A.C Kitschmas A21 Pigment eye colour,
would definitely recommend
if any of you girls want to add an extra dimension to your looks
then have a look at MAC's pigment collection. To die for.

I learnt so much from Emma, even simple things on how to perfect
your foundation. One tip was to use MAC Stroke Cream which just
leaves you with a more flawless and even finish.

And a cheekbone contouring tip for you lovely ladies is to follow from the centre of your ear along your cheek bone BUT, when using a darker
colour to contour do NOT go any further along than about
2 inches. Line it up with the corner of your eye.
This will give a more natural contour to your cheeks.

Would definitely recommend a MAC lesson as a gift, was absolutely amazing. And if by any chance you happen to be in Edinburgh then ask
for Emma, she was absolutely fabulous.
Now to keep practising with what I've learnt in mind.

Halloween Horror

Hey lovely ladies,

Sadly this year I never got the chance to dress up for Halloween, but I wasn't having that stop me from practising my make-up so my friends
kindly agreed to be my canvas.

My first model, who signed her face away to me, was my favourite girl Megan who asked to be turned into a Sugar Skull. It is an amazing alternative
look for Halloween, a little prettier than most looks but still giving a dark (and kind of creepy) appearance which you would expect to see on Halloween. Sugar Skulls are usually made up
of a large variety of bright contrasting colours however, on request
Megan decided on more subtle shadows of blue.
Still looking fab!

My second amazing model was Paula who asked to be zombie-fied, ready to keep to Halloween traditions and scare anyone she came in contact
with, including myself.
This look was really simple to create, using a white as the base and then
contouring her face with black. Creating a strong contrast and
adding shape to the face. Red's and blacks were blended round the
eyes to create that zombie/walking dead look.

Had so much fun experimenting away with these two looks. I've never done anything like it before but I'm definitely going to look into teaching myself how to do a wider variety of make-up looks and diversity my portfolio now.

Less Can Be More...

Hey My Gorgeous Girls,

So a quick post just to show you how some make up looks can be worn both during the day and at night.

The key is the keep the colours as simple as possible, warm tones and neutral tones working best for this, which means they will not conflict
with any last minute outfit changes
(we are all guilty of this, well I know I am at least).

The warm brown colours used above work really well with most skin tones, especially those who are lucky enough to have that perfect
golden skin - I am jealous.

So ladies, keep the glitter to a minimum for your day look as it is the secret to making sure your make up doesn't look to over the top and out of place.

This also leaves room for you to jazz it up if going out with the girls later on

and feel like you
still have a brand new face
of make up done.
Just adding a hint of gold or glitter can make this look really come to life and
make a statement like you would expect
an evening make up look
to make.

Keeping it simple doesn't mean you have to look any less FAB!

In the Eyes of Princess Jasmine

Hey my lovelies,

Straight in with my first ever post... I'm feeling nervous!
Really hope you all like it.

So, if you are anything like me, you look for an alternative on Halloween to having to cover yourself in blood and then, attempting to get it off the next day for work (usually unsuccessfully).
So this year I decided to take my inspiration straight from Disneyland and tried to recreate a modern, yet show stopping, Princess Jasmine Look.
Being Arab, she was always the princess i wanted to grow up to be,
guess it's never too late to make something become real.
Who said we are too old to be princesses anyway?

As you can see, i started off with a basic smokey eye look - simply creating a light to dark effect with the use of white and
black eye shadows. But to be a princess you need to be special, so there was no exception when it came to this make up either.
Princess Jasmine is known for her gorgeous blue outfit, so i chose this bold blue colour from my new MAC eye palette
and incorporated it into this look.

Girls, go over the top with this look and add a little bit of glitter on top of the white eye shadow to
give you that extra sparkle in your eye.

Lastly, complete this beautiful Middle Eastern Princess look with a head piece. Little tip, buying a long diamond earring and attaching it to your
hair is a quick and easy way to achieve this.
